Domain Controller Migration - Migrated a single server Windows Active Directory domain to new hardware with little downtime and not requiring any other domain changes. In addition, upgraded domain from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 at the same time.	Using a method called "Swing-It" with our own modifications, upgraded a Windows 2000 AD controller to Windows 2003 while migrating the domain to new server hardware. Using our customized approach allowed the organization to see a much shorter period of downtime when compared to classic approaches, while maintaining the same domain and server infrastructure as the original server - particularly the server name, where a change can cause issues with various applications. Web Content Filtering - Installed and configured a web content filtering server as a replacement to manage the web filtering process for computers within a church.	Using a true content filtering server rather then a URL filtering server allowed the church to more strictly control and restrict access to sites that did not meet their own definition of moral standards, rather then allowing an outside organization to decide what those standards were. This provided them with a much higher success rate in blocking sites they did not want access to.	Linux, DansGuardian 2.x (replaced later with Untangle)
Windows Update Services - Deployed a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server to more easily manage the monthly patch cycle from Microsoft for all workstations and servers within a network. Intrusion Prevention Sensor (IPS) - Deployed and customized an internal IPS device to detect and prevent malicious traffic from traversing two internal networks. At the same time redesigned the network for better performance and security.	Realized a strenghtened security posture with real-time alerts and historical reporting of events. Network Analysis - Analyzed the logical layout of the network and created a logical network diagram within Visio with .pdf output.	Created a snapshot visual diagram of the network with all critical information in one document, making this information more easily locatable for the business owner.	Visio, nmap
Production Change Control - Developed and deployed a production environment / change management system to effectively communicate production changes within the IT environment. Policy and Procedures - Developed a firewall security policy and procedures for the in-house IT department.	Realized time efficiences and created a more secure environment by developing a consistent and repeatable process for managing the firewalls.	n/a
Web Application Firewall - Secured a financial transaction website by deploying and configuring a 3rd party web application firewall. Worked with the vendor to implement additional code into the firmware base to halt specific attack vectors found during our penetration testing. Secure Internet Access - Installed Windows NT server, Linux firewall and DSL router for Internet connectivity. Configured email access via ISP accounts and Outlook 2000. Setup domain name with Internet registrar for personalized company email.	Business now enjoys high-speed Internet connectivity allowing access to research sites. Email can now be exchanged with clients quickly and efficiently at the office or on the road. Virtual Private Networking - Implemented VPN solution over the Internet utilizing router configured PPTP tunnels and proprietary security for connectivity between office in Ohio and one in Florida. Implemented remote VPN access over Internet via company approved home PCs and laptops.	Company can now exchange data between both offices quickly and securely. Virus Cleanup and AntiVirus Installation - Conducted thorough analysis and cleaning of a Windows NT 4.0 server and multiple workstations. Installed centrally managed antivirus software on server and workstations.	Virus were completely cleaned from 2 infected workstations and one NT 4.0 server. Data was completely recovered through previously implemented backup solutions. Data is now protected from virus by an automated antivirus solution. Internet Connectivity - Installed ISDN Internet connection and configured router. Configured DHCP and NAT on router for security. Setup software firewall on dedicated dial-up workstation. Installed necessary cabling for ISDN.	This golfing retail company now has a faster Internet connection than their previous dial-up, in order to retrieve their email and perform necessary Internet searches. Virtual Private Networking - Implemented secure VPN solution over the Internet utilizing IPSec certificates and Windows 2000 RRAS services. Installed in-house IPSec Certificate Server. Configured software firewall and certificates on company approved home PCs and laptops.	Company is now able to securely connect to their office network from high-speed connections at home, as well as from anywhere on the road where they have dial-up Internet access from their laptops. Internet Bandwidth Conversion - Converted from an Internet dedicated T1 to a burstable DS3 ATM connection. Installed and configured DNS servers. Moved DNS records from provider to in-house DNS servers for better access and disaster recovery controls.	This financial institution now enjoys faster Internet connectivity for their customers with the larger DS3. In the case of an outage on the DS3, disaster recovery methods are implemented which allow use of the backup T1 within 2 minutes. Network Attached Storage - Researched, recommended, and implemented a disk storage solution for data housing of check images, with 4Tb of storage, upgradeable to a minimum of 12Tb.	Organization is now able to better serve its customers by providing faster, more reliable, higher capacity, less expensive disk storage. Upgrading to larger capacity drives became much easier. Windows 2000 Migration - Converted architectural firm from Windows NT/Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2000/Exchange 2000 Servers. Designed and implemented a simple but effective disaster recovery scheme. Internet Security Implementation and Auditing - Installed Raptor Eagle Firewall on Windows NT for a financial services company. Setup filtering software for Internet web sites. Developed logging software for management reports.	The company's internal network and web servers are protected by one of the industry's best firewalls. Access to network resources is carefully controlled. Network traffic to and from the Internet is monitored and logged. Web servers are protected in a DMZ. Small Business Server Upgrade - Upgraded Microsoft SBS Server v4.0 to v4.5, including Exchange v5.5. Updated all Outlook clients and configured. Configured SQL Server 7.0 for use with third-party application.	This upgrade improved the stability and performance of the organization's file sharing, email and database information. Email Filtering and AntiVirus - Conducted research and implementation of email filtering coupled with an antivirus solution.	Company is able to easily filter out all but necessary company email. Filters keep out unnecessary and potentially dangerous attachments, while scanning for virus all email and attachments that are allowed in. Data Center Move - Large financial institution moved data center, consisting of 17 Windows NT and Novell Netware servers, 80+ workstations, and several frame relay and ISDN links. Managed and coordinated cabling of over 4 miles of CAT5 cable, with over 336 station runs. Reconstructed routing tables and tested all communication links. Project encompassed entire move, from planning stages through production and post-move audit.	Company realized cost benefits and peace of mind with thorough planning and coordination of vendors through one point of contact. Move was "a non-event" in the eyes of the customer. Disaster Recovery - Developed, tested and implemented a complete disaster recovery plan, including network services, Internet services, telecommunications (including voice and fax), with a network installed and operating with critical components in a "hotsite". Site is kept up to date by the minute through SQL and Lotus Notes native replication and Double-Take software.	Client is well prepared for most any disaster that might occur. With the site fully functional with all critical systems, it can be "turned up" within minutes.
